Urupunyakavu Beach

Urupunyakavu Beach

Urupunyakavu Beach is a major beach in Moodadi Grama Panchayat. Urupunyakavu Sree Durga Bhagavathy Temple is also located nearby. The temple is situated on a hillock that offers a beautiful view of the Arabian Sea. The temple and the beach are famous for rituals like Bali Tharpanam (ancestral offerings) performed at Karkidaka Vavu. The view from the temple offers a beautiful panoramic view, sometimes described as the sea taking the shape of the sacred "OHM" symbol. The beach is notable for its proximity to this revered place. Basically, rather than being a major tourist beach destination, this beach is more known for its spiritual and beautiful connection with the historic Urupunyakavu Temple.
